Introduction (English version)

Hello everyone,
I created this blog in order to keep contact with each of you during the adventure that Jay and I will begin soon.
As you probably know, we started the in vitro process at the beginning of the year. As there were talk that the government would maybe get involved, then we have ceased our efforts and waited to see what the government's decision concerning the payment of InVitro fertilization (IVF) would be. In August, we were pleased to learn that the government finally decided to pay for the first 3 trials of IVF.
This is great news for all prospective parents who can not conceive naturally. The cost for an In Vitro test is approximately $ 12,000.00. So you can understand why we are so pleased that the government gives us a hand.
In our case, we probably could have had children in the conventional way if Jay had not received the massive dose of chemo and radio therapy. All treatments that Jay has received in order to stop his cancer and return it in perfect health have not only stopped the bad cells but also several good cells.Since his remission, Jay is followed by a urologist to evaluate whether his body has begun to reproduce sperm, but unfortunately, the answer remains negative. There's no little swimmers .... It is possible that things change eventually, but as the years go by, the lesser the chances are. It is for this reason that we are seeking IVF treatments.
We're really lucky, just before beginning his chemo treatments, Dre. Lachance had the bright idea to freeze some of the semen specimens of Jay ............. She deserves the Nobel Award for the best idea! We have 14 samples available to us .... it is enough to create a hockey team or ......... .......... Jay would prefer a Formula 1 team. :-)
IVF is a great process because, that way, we will be able to choose children with the qualities of their mother and the qualities of their father.  No flaws! Isn't it great?  The perfect child.  Science is so great! Too bad! It does not work like that.
So ..... before continuing treatment, I had to pass some tests, blood tests, ultrasounds, etc.. to see if I was healthy and that everything was fine. Yeah!  I succeeded, I have A+ everywhere. I knew I'd be good at this. ;-)
Isabelle, be a little serious ...come on ... You're going to become a mother after all. Lol!
So .... now I have an appointment on October 15th to schedule my medicationS calendar with the nurse at the fertility clinic at Royal Victoria.
I wrote medicationS with a capital S because there are many:
Gonal F
Lupron Depot
Ovidrel
Progesterone (I know this one)
Estrace
Doxycycline
Medrol
Preg-vit-5
Cetrotide
etc.!
These drugs are used to create synthetic PMS. The dream of all men!
So if anyone wants to host Jay for a few days, please, let us know. He will thank you.

Seriously, I do not know yet how I'll feel, but the purpose of this blog is to keep you informed. I think the coming weeks will be very interesting.
Be aware, My Blog is Rated R.
I'll write all that comes into my head.  I will describe my moods, changes happening in me, my lovely nights sleep, everything, everything, everything.
I want this blog to serve as a reference for expectant mothers who will go through a try of in vitro fertilization.  I want to document the experience for our children.  One day they will want to know their stories. (I use the plural because I consider to try this experience again several times.) Sounds Masochist!
So when they'll start asking questions like Dad? Mom? Where the l'ttle babies are from? Tell us how we came to this world?
I'll say:''Well....., you come from your Dad. Then you were put in a test tube! You were kept frozen for some years. It was the best way to keep you!
Then, thanks to the generosity of the government, Mom was able to take lots of drugs that allowed Dad to know mom in a best behavior. That way, Dad had a better idea what he was getting into. (Hummmmm! They should give it to every couple who think of getting married !!!!!) Finally, Dad decided to keep Mom and then they decided to have you.
When it was time, the doctor took control over Mummy's body. That's something that is almost heroic, cause Mom does not like to give away control, normally she likes to control everything. ;-)
Finally, the doctor put you in the womb of Mummy and 9 months later you were there.
Hello? don't worry......... I will not tell them that ....
So if you want to know how it goes, just read my blog regularly. I should write every week. You can also ask me questions. I will be happy to answer them. I will always write the french version first and translate it later if times and energy allows it.
If i didn't have the chance to do the translation, you can always use google translator.  It is pretty accurate.

Have a great day y'all!
Talk to you soon
Isabelle

  1. WOW!
